Legend says that Sage Whittleworth was carved from a fallen branch of the oldest tree in the Whispering Woods, by a blind woodcarver who could "see" with his hands. On nights when the moon is full, the wooden owl comes to life, serving as a mediator between the human and forest worlds. His carved feathers contain the stories of every creature who's ever sought his counsel, and each new marking that mysteriously appears in his wood tells of another secret kept or wisdom shared. Local artisans leave small offerings of their finest tools at his perch, hoping to receive inspiration through their dreams. Children claim that if you whisper a true secret to him at twilight, a new tiny pattern will appear in his wooden feathers by morning.
